The Town of Pawling Planning Board consists of seven members appointed by the Town Board.
Our main responsibilities are to review and decide on subdivisions, site plans, lot line adjustments, special use permits and signs. It is important to note that the Planning Board has no legislative powers and no code enforcment authority. Our function is limitied to applying the Town Code please click here as written.
There are a number of ways to engage in the process and access information:
- Sign up for alerts. Sign up to receive email alerts regarding meeting agendas and other news please click here.
- Write a letter. One of the best ways for your voice to be heard and to be entered into the records is to write a letter addressed to the Planning Board. We read all letters and they become a matter of record for any application or action.
- Attend a Meeting. We usually meet the first and third Monday of every month at 7pm in the Town Hall meeting room,but encourage you to check the website for any cancellations or special meetings or worksessions. Meeting agendas are set in advance and sometimes include public hearings about specific topics or applications.
You are highly encourage to submit written or oral comments about a specific application at the public hearing as they are scheduled at a point in the process when the appropriate amount of information has been gathered. Oral comments are generally limited to 3 minutes per NYS quidelines.
Reviewing files. All application files can be reviewed by appointment at the planning board office. No copies of documents are avialble. if you reguire a copy, you must FOIL the document.
